Children as young as 5 are enrolled in “practical courses” like hairdressing, catering and construction.

A new program initiated in England has enrolled 12 toddlers for training courses typically geared for students aged 14 to 19.  Other children are being enrolled at the age of 11, and there’s been a major push to recruit 14-year olds.

The program is designed to stop behavior problems early and reduce drop out rates and “instill goals for life.” Those that support the program believe addressing behavior issues early by teaching them practical skills will prevent future detentions and expulsions. Those that are against the program believe that it’s stigmatizing children at an early age and sending a negative message about vocational training.

How do you weigh in on this? Is this pushing the limit?
