Too many students see college as “out of reach”
Monday, November 23, 2009
According to a new study by the Institute for Higher Education Policy, there are far too many qualified and prepared students who graduate from high school but do not go on to college. Why? Because they don’t know enough about the cost of college, the types and amount of financial aid available, how to enroll and the personal and economic benefit of getting a degree.
We can’t afford to let higher education slip away from students who could succeed if given the chance. We must work diligently and collaboratively across all levels to make college a real possibility for these students. This study reported that many of the highly qualified students would be in college if only they knew how to pursue a college education.
